In the National Park “Synevyr”, somebody sets old trees on fire (PHOTOS)

On June 7-9, ecologists of the ELH Tyestov Petro and Norenko Catherine visited the National Park "Synevyr" to see its natural systems and check the information on possible violations that was unveiled on the Internet.

The ecologists found in the park many trees with burnt roots.

The ecologists of the ELH heard three different opinions on who does it.

According to the first version, local people do it, as the punishment for damaging the trees to the point of growth termination is less than for unauthorized felling.

According to the second version, workers of the Park do that to have an excuse to allot the trees for felling.

"The most original version was suggested by employees of the National Park, who claimed that most arsons are the result of actions of children who use resin as a gum and set the trees on fire to make them secrete resin."

All of these assumptions have a lot of inconsistencies, but presence of numerous burnt trees in the Park "Synevyr" is a fact.

The ecologists appealed to the State Ecological Inspectorate of Ukraine requesting to conduct an unscheduled inspection in the Park "Synevyr", calculate the losses caused by damaging trees to the point of growth termination and to bring to justice the officials responsible for protection of the forest.
