Yesterday, in the evening, border guards of the "Luzhanka" department of the Mukachevo detachment in Transcarpathia prevented illegal transportation of tobacco products across the border.
Border guards received from a local resident the information about preparations for illegal activity. Operational and investigative measures were organized in a few minutes, which resulted in detection of three people. The men did not react to the lawful requests of the border guards to stop the offenses, so the law enforcement officers had to use a device for shooting rubber bullets and made warning shots in the air.
As a result, one man, who turned out to be a citizen of Hungary, was detained by the border guards and taken to the border guard unit, and the other two managed to escape. Six packages of tobacco products were also found near the place, where the Hungarian was detained. Currently, the searches for the fugitives continue.
The packages, that the offenders planned to deliver to neighboring Hungary, contained 10 boxes of tobacco products, namely 5,000 packs of cigarettes without excise stamps.
