Yesterday, at the checkpoint "Vylok", border guards of the Mukachevo Detachment prevented an attempt of cigarette smuggling. Checking the operational information concerning possible cigarette smuggling, border guards initiated in-depth inspection of two cars – Audi and Mercedes. The said cars were driven by citizens of Hungary.

When performing in-depth inspection of the car "Audi", border guards together with customs officers found in the wheels of the vehicle 1160 packs of cigarettes "Rotmans" with excise stamps of Ukraine. The found cigarettes and the car were confiscated according to the law. The total value of the seized cigarettes was 22,000 UAH, the car was estimated at nearly 81,000 UAH.

After inspection and seizure of the vehicle "Audi", the driver of the car "Mercedes" was asked to go to the box for in-depth inspection. The car was driven by a 26-year-old citizen of Hungary. The man ignored the legal demands of law enforcement officers and, making a U-turn, tried to escape the checkpoint towards Ukraine. Border guards immediately took measures to stop the vehicle, as a result, all four wheels of the offender’s car got punched, the windshield and side mirror got damaged.

The police were informed about this fact. Subsequently, as a result of joint search activities, the car was detained, the circumstances of the offense are established.
