The State Emergencies Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region gives the operative information about the situation in the region as a result of bad weather.
As of 06.00, December 10, the traffic of heavy vehicles on the passes in Transcarpathian region on the highway M06 Kyiv-Chop has been restored.
26 settlements remain without electricity supply completely (V.Berezny district – 10, Svalyava district – 7, Volovets district – 4, Mizhhirya district – 5) and partly 2 settlements in Volovets district.
As previously reported, during December 9, heavy precipitation in the form of rain and snow was observed on the territory of the region, resulting in a temporary restriction of the traffic of heavy vehicles on the motorway "M-06 Kyiv-Chop" within the region.
As a result of slush build-up, 36 trees fell in Volovets, Mizhhirya and Svalyava districts. Units of the State Emergencies Service Office in Transcarpathian region sawed up 35 cubic meters of wood.
Due to sudden rise in groundwater, stream water levels, clogged sewage ditches and drainage systems, 13 basements of residential houses and households in five districts of the region were flooded (Perechyn district 1, Uzhgorod district -3, the city of Uzhgorod – 5, the city of Svalyava – 2, the city of Mukachevo – 2). Rescuers pumped out about 5000 cubic meters of water.
Also, they provided assistance in towing 42 cars on the mountain passes of Transcarpathian region.
In total, 17 units of equipment and 56 rescuers from the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region were involved in emergency and rescue operations.
