Four persons, who tried to kidnap an Uzhgorod resident, were detained and taken into custody (PHOTOS)

The police opened a criminal investigation into kidnapping in Uzhgorod and detained the suspects

Officers of the Uzhgorod Police Department opened a criminal investigation into the kidnapping of a man in Uzhgorod. All four suspected were arrested and taken into a temporary detention facility.

Recall that yesterday, on December 10, a woman called the police and reported about a kidnapping of a person. The police immediately started searching for the vehicle described by the applicant. Officers of the patrol police together with the operatives of the Uzhgorod Police Department and the Main Office of the National Police in Transcarpathian region detained the Mercedes at the intersection of Sobranetska and Zakarpatska streets. Inside, there were three residents of Mukachevo, aged 18, 22 and 23, a 28-year-old resident of the regional center and a 29-year-old kidnapped resident of Uzhgorod.

The police found out that the victim had been pushed into the car, while the attackers were using a pistol-like object to threaten him. A criminal proceeding over this incident was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 146 of the CCU, that is, unlawful imprisonment or abduction of a person committed on mercenary motives, by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, or in a way that is dangerous to the victim’s life or health, or using weapons. This offense is punishable by restriction of liberty for up to five years or imprisonment for the same period. In addition, the suspects are charged with a criminal offense under Part 2 of Art. 189 of the CCU, that is extortion, committed by a group of persons. The seized weapon was sent for examination, the investigators are determining the legal classification of the illegal possession of firearms.

All four suspects were detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine and put in a temporary holding facility. The police sent a request to the court to impose a pre-trial restraint. The investigation continues.
