The premiere of the tragicomic absurd "Better Stay Dead" based on the play by Karl Wittlinger "Do You Know the Milky Way?" took place on the "small stage" of the Regional Misuc and Drama Theater in Uzhgorod.
The performance was directed by well-known actor, Honored Artist of Ukraine Mykhailo Fishchenko. Art direction by Vira Stepchuk. The set is multifunctional – first, it serves as a confession booth, then turns into a prison cell. The main role is performed by young actor Rudolf Dzurinets, other roles are played by actress Zhanna Baranovich and Honored Artist of Ukraine Stepan Barabash. Every actor plays several roles during the play.
The plot is about a soldier who, after many years in captivity, returns home, where nobody is waiting for him: he was "buried", his wife re-married, his land was sold, even the priest turns away from him…
In the end, when the audience gave the actors standing ovation, the director Mykhailo Fishchenko said: "I hope none of our Heroes will have to experience this."
During the discussion backstage, they said the premiere was preceded by a month of hard work. They were living with this play. I congratulate the actors and advise you to go to the theater, where another show of "Better Stay Dead" will be held on December 14 at 18.30.
