In Transcarpathia, a large channel of illegal immigrant smuggling was closed

Ukrainian border guards, together with the police and border guards of Slovakia, liquidated the channel for the smuggling of illegal migrants from Vietnam.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine is conducting successful activities for integration into the European security space. The work and cooperation of Ukrainian and foreign operational staff is an important component of that.

Another step in this direction was the successful completion of a joint operation on the border with Slovakia on the compromise and liquidation of the channel of illegal migration of Vietnamese citizens. The channel was liquidated by the employees of the State Border Guard Service, the National Police in close cooperation with the border police of the Slovak Republic.

In early August of this year, officers of the Ukrainian Border Guard Service jointly with the National Police in Transcarpathian region and with the help of Slovak border guards gathered the information on the intentions of criminals to transport a large group of illegal migrants to Europe. In order to eliminate the channel, law enforcement officers on both sides of the border planned appropriate measures for this group.

The operatives were constantly monitoring the formation of the group and gradual movement of the foreigners to the border area. After the accumulation of migrants near the border, the organizers repeatedly changed the day and the place where there the border would be crossed. They did all that to prevent law enforcement officers from tracing the route of the illegal trip. However, the criminals did not succeed and, according to a joint plan of the law-enforcement agencies of two countries, a group of 24 Vietnamese citizens was detained by the border guards of Slovakia immediately after crossing the Ukrainian-Slovak border.

Currently, law enforcement officers in Ukraine and the Slovak Republic are conducting further investigative activities to find all the organizers of the channel and their accomplices, – the press service of the Chop border guard detachment reports.
