Vyacheslav Grozny: "Those who suggest to reduce the championship are real populists"
The head coach of Uzhgorod "Goverla" Vyacheslav Grozny expressed his opinion on the possible change in the format of the championship of Ukraine.
- Why do TV channels suggest the variant with 12 clubs? Because TV channels simply can not broadcast more than six matches in a round. I said, "No problem, let's leave seven teams and 14 matches in a round, and do not broadcast the least interesting match." And then I got the idea: if the channels such a tight schedule, we leave 16 teams in the championship in the first year, but do not take money from the TV. And TV channels can use these funds for development. First we do a favour to them, and then they do a favour to us.
I think that if I make this suggestion, most clubs will reject it without looking deep into it. And I say that this money from TV is not going to do big difference. It will not change anything for the top clubs - their owners invest much more. For the teams from the bottom of the ranking, it will not make significant changes too, because they will receive a negligible amount.
In the current economic situation, it is natural that football in the country is in crisis. Owners can not invest as much as before. It is a natural temporary process associated with socio-political and economic situation in the country. But this does not negate the need for expanding the tournament as a whole. Those who suggest to play with eight or 10 teams are real populists.
