Transcarpathian prosecutors will appeal too lenient sentence to the "separatist"

Regional prosecutors appeals the too lenient decision of Uzhgorod district court, which condemned the "separatist" only to 3 years of probation and will press for 7 years in prison

The prosecutor's office prepared an appeal to the Court of Appeal in Transcarpathian region, disagreeing with the too lenient decision of Uzhgorod city district court, which earlier this year sentenced the editor of paper "Raboche-krestyanskaya pravda" for committing criminal offenses under Part 2 of Art.110 (encroachment on the integrity of Ukraine), Part 1 of Art. 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of equality), however, pursuant to Art. 75 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the court released him on probation for 3 years.

It was established that the editor of the socio-political Bolshevik newspaper "Raboche-krestyanskaya pravda" had published in its pages the articles of a propaganda nature, advocating for the reconstruction of the USSR, the abolition of private property, the construction of communism, disobidience to the central government of Ukraine, support for separatism in the eastern regions of Ukraine, which could lead to violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine. In addition, such statements create a negative image of Ukraine, Ukrainian and Jewish representatives in the eyes of Ukrainian and world community, humiliate their national dignity and honor that can inflame national enmity and hatred.

With the said deliberate acts, the editor committed crimes under Part 2 of Art. 110 (punishable by imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with or without confiscation of property) and Part 1 of Art. 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (punishable by a fine of two hundred to five hundred untaxed minimum incomes, or imprisonment for up to five years, with or without disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years).

The regional prosecutor's office during the state accusation in court on this criminal proceeding, asked the court to sentence the man to imprisonment for 7 years with confiscation of property and deprivation of the right to engage in certain activities for 3 years.
