On January 22, at 12.00, the celebration of the Day of Unification of Ukraine will take place in Uzhgorod. The gathering will be at 11.30 on Teatralna Square. Uzhgorod residents will have the opportunity to congratulate all of Ukraine.
January 22, 2016 marks the 97th anniversary of the Unification Day – the day of the reunion of Great and Western Ukraine, which was proclaimed by the Act of Unification of the Ukrainian People’s and the West Ukrainian People’s Republics on January 22, 1919 in Kyiv, on St. Sophia square. Since then and forever Ukrainians have been united in one national state and our people demonstrated aspirations for unity during the Revolution of Dignity and now – in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
In Uzhgorod, Ukrainians, traditionally, will form a symbolic human chain that will connect Petofi Square and Teatralna (via the pedestrian bridge). The feature of this year’s event will be a video shoot that will allow Uzhgorod residents to congratulate Ukraine on the occasion and thank our defenders in eastern Ukraine for protecting our unity today.
