The ARVI epidemic situation in Transcarpathian region from 16 to 22 of January, 2016

According to the deputy head of the state sanitary and epidemiological monitoring department of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service in the region Victoria DORDYAY, for the period from 16 to 22 of January, 2016, 4578 turned to health care institutions of the region about ARVI and influenza, the incidence increased compared to the previous week in 2016 by 68.4%. The incidence rate is 36.4  per 10 thousand people, which is 12.3% above the epidemic threshold.

The rate of outpatient treatment about acute respiratory viral infections increased during the last week (3rd week of 2016) by 68.4%, in particular by 63.6% among children and by 76.5% among adults.


61.0% of cases are children under the age of 17 years. Among children, the highest number of cases (1257 people) is recorded in the age group of 5-14 years.

5.4% of the total of cases (249 persons) have been hospitalized, including 172 (69.1%) children.


To prevent the spread of epidemic acute respiratory viral infections, restrictive measures have been introduced in thirty schools of V.Berezny district from 21.01.2016 to 29.01.2016, in six schools of Uzhgorod district from 25.01.2016 to 08.02.2016, and in twenty eight schools of the city of Uzhgorod from 25.01.2016 to 08.02.2016.

At the initiative of heads of the schools, learning process has been suspended in 150 schools of the region (72 in Tyachiv, 33 in Svalyava and 45 in Khust districts).
