Police summed the statistics: Transcarpathia is the most peaceful region in the country

Transcarpathia, according to the National Police, is officially considered a region with one of the lowest crime rates in Ukraine.

During 2015, 1,061 criminal offenses were recorded in Transcarpathian region.

It’s one hundred more than that in 2014, the Main Office of the National Police in Transcarpathian region reported.

Our region is one of the most peaceful in the country.

The number of the most serious crimes – premeditated murders – in Transcarpathian region decreased from 27 to 22, serious bodily harm – from 65 to 55. The number of armed assaults decreased from 34 to 37. The number of burglaries decreased from 199 to 181. The number of damages (illegal tie-ins) to oil pipelines decreased from 36 to 17. The number of illegal handling of weapon dropped from 195 to 174. The number of road accident with fatalities decreased from 66 to 62. The number of drug-related crimes decreased from 315 to 244. The number of documented facts of bribery decreased from 56 to 38.

At the same time, last year, the number of thefts in Transcarpathia increased from 4083 to 4248, serious and very serious crimes – from 3080 to 3555.  The number of robberies increased from 154 to 218; extortion (racketeering) – from 27 to 89; fraud – from 706 to 812, car thefts – from 51 to 64; disorderly conduct – from 162 to 169. Rape rate increased from 9 to 17.

Meanwhile, the police states that statistics is no longer the main indicator of the quality of their work. They say that the most important thing now is the level of confidence in the police.
