Best of the best. The exhibition of Bokshay and Erdelyi prize winners has been opened (PHOTOS)

On Friday, January 15, the exhibition of works by winners of the Y.Bokshay and A. Erdelyi Regional Prize opened in the "Uzhgorod" gallery in the regional center.

The event is timed to the 20th anniversary since the founding of the regional awards in literature and art (including the aforementioned prize in the field of fine and decorative art - the Y.Bokshay and A. Erdelyi Prize).

It was decided to collect works of winners for all 20 years. However, not all of them. In total, there are more than 40 works.

The head of the Transcarpathian organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine Boris Kuzma named several reasons for incompleteness of the exhibition: some authors are now deceased, some works could not be found, and the gallery space is too small to accommodate all the best.

Opening the event, they observed a minute of silence in honour of the laureates Pavlo Bedzir, Semen Malchitsky, Vasyl Gabda, Pavlo Balla, Ernest Kontratovych and others, who are no longer among us. Afterward, Mr. Kuzma presented those who stood at the origins of the prize - the then head of Culture Department of the Regional State Administration Vasyl Haborets and People's Artist of Ukraine Volodymyr Mykyta.

During the 20 years of existence of the Y.Bokshay and A.Erdelyi Prize, more than 70 artists in the region have become its winners. Some of them, several times. Today, Mr. Mykyta recalls that the first prize, particularly in the nomination "Painting", went to a renowned Transcarpathian artist Ernest Kontratovych.

As for the exhibition, it is very vivid and diverse - there are paintings, sculptures, and and works of applied art. There are works by V.Sidak, V.Skakandiy, O.Dolhosh, L.Korzh-Radko, M.Rosul and other winners.

It is definitely worth to see it! The exhibition is open in the "Uzhgorod" gallery every day except Monday.
