Border guards of the Chop detachment in two instances prevented the smuggling of cigarettes (PHOTO)

On Saturday, September 10, border guards of the Chop detachment prevented several attempts of illegal tobacco smuggling abroad.

Thus, in the first case, a citizen of Ukraine following through the checkpoint "Uzhgorod" in his car "Mercedes" tried to illegally move cigarettes. However, during an inspection of the vehicle, the border guards had suspicions. During the in-depth border guard and customs inspections of the car, the joint team found 285 packs of cigarettes "L&M" hidden in the design interior cavities. Along with the cigarettes worth more than 4,500 UAH, the vehicle made in 2006, estimated at over 370,000 UAH was seized.

Later on the same day, another our compatriot decided to try his luck at the checkpoint "Tisa". In this case, border guards again had suspicions during the inspection of the car. And not for nothing, because the driver of the "Peugeot" hid 330 packs of cigarettes "Rotmans" in running wheels and in a spare wheel. In addition to the tobacco products worth 5,610 UAH, the vehicle, which was at estimated at over 16,000 UAH, was seized.

Relevant procedural documents were made against both offenders for attempts to smuggle cigarettes to the EU.
