Information for those traveling with children!

By the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of 19.10.2016 №733, amendments are made to the Rules of border crossing by citizens of Ukraine.

In particular, it concerns the strengthening of control on traveling abroad by citizens of Ukraine under 16 years of age. From now on, such children can travel abroad accompanied by one parent without providing notarized consent of the other parent, solely subject to the presence of a mark in the child’s passport confirming PERMANENT consular registration in the diplomatic mission or consular office of Ukraine abroad, rather than temporary consular registration.

Permanent consular registration is provided to citizens of Ukraine permanently residing abroad.

It should be noted that before the amendments traveling abroad was allowed subject to the presence of a mark on temporary consular registration, which in future could lead to challenging the legality of departure.

The new procedure is introduced to prevent the illegal taking of children abroad by one parent without the consent of the other parent. It will help protect the rights of both children and the other parent.
