Goverla dam: what was left of it (PHOTO)

Goverla dam located in the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve near the village of Luhy in Rakhiv district was built for timber rafting in the late 19th century and was once one of the largest in the Carpathians.

It is located at an altitude of 740 m above sea level. The reservoir capacity was 250 thousand cubic meters of water. The water surface area was 5 hectares. And the rafts floated to the Hungarian city of Szolnok. Since the 1950s, the rafting stopped. Now you can only see the remains of the dam.
