Educational cross-border cooperation

Uzhgorod Taras Shevchenko Linguistic Gymnasium and Pavol Horov Gymnasium from the Slovak city of Michalovce signed a new cooperation agreement. It is said in the statement posted on the official page of Uzhgorod city council. Uzhgorod school collaborated with this institution in the past, but the previous agreement had expired.

To sign the agreement, the director of Pavol Horov Gymnasium Rudolph Gadomský and his deputy Katarina Olšavová came to Uzhgorod. The guests were taken for a small tour of the school, told about its history and plans for the future.

The meeting was also attended by the Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv, who noted that Uzhgorod and Michalovce have had long-term friendly relationship – 15 years ago, the agreement on twinning between cities was signed.   Bohdan Andriyiv thanked Slovak friends and expressed hope that the cooperation would be beneficial for teachers, and especially for students of both schools.

According to the director of Uzhgorod Linguistic Gymnasium Liubov Popovich, the purpose of the cooperation is first of all teaching of exchange students, as well as their participation in joint educational, cultural and sports projects, exchange of experience among teachers and others. By the way, in addition to compulsory learning English and German, Uzhgorod Linguistic Gymnasium students have the opportunity to learn Slovak language.
