“Chasing Two Hares”, Luhansk version was presented in Uzhgorod

On Monday, October 24, in the Transcarpathian Regional Music and Drama Theater in Uzhgorod, there was the performance of Luhansk Regional Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater "Chasing Two Hares" based on the play by M. Starytsky as interpreted by director Yevhen Merzlyakov. The performance in Uzhgorod took place within the nationwide tour.

In December 2014, the theater moved to the city of Severodonetsk. This was told at the press conference before the show by the head of the Department of culture, nationalities and religions of Luhansk Regional State Administration Alina Adamchuk. The then head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal (now the head of the Transcarpathian RSA), decided to relocate the cultural institution to Severodonetsk, which is controlled by Ukrainian military.     Not all theater artists moved, some stayed under "those flags." They say that they miss some artists, sympathize with others, but do not condemn those, who stayed, for it was not always because of pro-Russian views.

But now Luhansk Regional Academic Ukrainian Drama Theatre can already boast 13 productions since its deployment in Severodonetsk. Although the building is now not in the best condition, but still. "We have 100 employees, including 25 actors, now we have several ballet groups, singers, we tour, – the manager of the theater Serhiy Dorofeev says. – Instead, the theater, that stayed in Luhansk, is now called "The Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theatre on Oboronna Street." Yet Alina Adamchuk hopes that time will come when they will come back home, and a Ukrainian flag will fly above the theater.

As for "Chasing Two Hares", the theater offered a bold interpretation with modern music, colorful ballet numbers. And Uzhgorod audience liked it, because they gave a standing ovation. Then, to Kyiv!
