The court arrested the resident of Rakhiv district who shot a policeman

The court imposed on the 53-year-old resident of the village of Vydrychka in Rakhiv district, who was detained for an attempt on the life of a policeman, a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention for two months.

New charges were also put forward against him - illegal possession of firearms.

Yesterday, Rakhiv district court imposed a pre-trial restraint - detention for a period of 60 days - on the 53-year-old resident of the village of Vydrychka in Rakhiv district. The latter, while being intoxicated, in the evening of November 22, wounded a 23-year-old police lieutenant with a Kalashnikov machine gun. The law enforcement officer with the wounded wrist is going to undergo complex surgeries at the regional hospital. 

The drunk attacker was immediately detained by the police. At first he was in temporary detention facility, and now, according to the court decision, for two months he will be in the jail in Uzhgorod.

In addition to the attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer (Art.348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), the attacker is charged with illegal possession of firearms (Art.263, Part 1 of the Criminal Code). Recall, that the police seized from the detainee a Kalashnikov gun and 23 cartridges for it.

The identification number on the machine gun was erased. 

For the attempt on the life of the policeman, the man faces 9 to 15 years or even life imprisonment. The pretrial investigation continues.
