With the campaign “1000 letters to the government”, Transcarpathian students reminded Yatsenyuk of his promises

Students are still waiting for the desired UAH 800 scholarships, although the amount has long had to be almost twice as much!

With this issue in mind, the leadership of the student trade union of Uzhgorod National University organized the campaign "1000 letters to the government" that were addressed directly to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk. The chairman of the trade union Rostislav Holovchansky told more about this.

According to him, under the 2014 law on increasing social benefits, the minimum amount of the scholarship must correspond to the subsistence level. The latter is now 1,368 hryvna. About two years have passed after the promulgation of the law, but the relevant changes are nowhere to be seen, the Media Center of UzhNU reported. The management of the student trade union of the university came up with the idea how to budge this process. They decided to hold a campaign "1000 letters to the government."

Each department of UzhNU submitted letters from students. They contain complaints about the Government’s failure to fulfill their promises to increase the minimum amount of scholarship. The text of the complaint was adopted at a special meeting. They also shared the idea of such a campaign with representatives of trade unions of other Ukrainian universities.

Student messages were sent to the Cabinet on the 1st of March.
