Officials reported on the implementation of the Program for the Development of Tourism and Resorts in Transcarpathia
Officials of the Regional State Administration reported on the implementation of the Program for Development of Tourism and Resorts in the past 5 years
The head of Tourism and Resorts Department Denys Man reported on the implementation of the program during the meeting of the Coordination Council on Tourism and Resorts and the Public Council at the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration.
According to the relevant department, for the past 5 years, there have been systemic changes in tourism compared to the previous period, but not all sections of the program have been implemented because the system of tourism management at the national and regional levels has changed several times, and also the industry has been affected by a serious lack of funding.
"Today we have a major increase in the number of visitors to our region, we preserve the uniqueness of thermal resources that are becoming more popular. The status of a mountainous region with a unique climate and natural features makes it possible to introduce new tourism attractions, and cooperation of the government with business and community organizations - to respond quickly to all events at the tourist market" - Denys Man said in the report.
During 2011-2015, there was an active development of tourism infrastructure, the number of facilities providing tourist and recreational services significantly increased and keeps growing. More than 60 information boards and 30 road signs have been established to inform about tourist attractions in the region, 40 sites for temporary rest and 10 recreational areas have been arranged, the museum of viticulture and winemaking has been opened.
In 2014, the Regional Coordination Council on Tourism and Resorts at the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration was formed, which helped to unite the public, the government and business.
To popularize and promote the tourism potential of Transcarpathia, representatives of the region attended 26 specialized tourist events, both domestic and international.
