“Galanthus” has blossomed in the “Uzhgorod” gallery

Spring landscapes, original still lifes, sensual portraits, paintings on sacred subjects – you can see all that today in the "Uzhgorod" gallery. An exhibition of Transcarpathian artists "Galanthus" has recently opened there on the occasion of the holiday of spring, and it will last until March 15.  

As noted at the opening by artist Olena Kondratyuk, the event was encouraged by men. "Prepare an exhibition", – the head of the Transcarpathian Organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine said. "We have prepared," – Mrs. Kondratyuk said. Transcarpathian artist Odarka Dolgosh added that they presented "not women’s art, but a woman in the arts."

In total 22 artists presented about 40 works.

We could not help but ask if women’s style of painting is somehow different from men’s. Artist Vasyl Vovchok affirmatively said, "Yes, of course." "The manner of presentation, topics are different. A woman is more responsible, prudent artist. Young artist Tetyana Ivanytska agrees with him. Well-known artist Volodymyr Mykyta is more categorical: "There is no difference. There are not many women in the Union (one third – Ed.), but you see how well they paint! They are very hardworking. To some extent, they have even surpassed men" – the People’s Artist of Ukraine sums up.
