Drivers of cars with foreign registration continue to block the border (PHOTOS)
Owners of cars with foreign registration continue to block international checkpoint "Uzhgorod-Vysne Nemecke."
Dozens of cars are blocking the entrance to the Ukrainian-Slovak border. The owners stayed there all night and say that they will not go until their demands are heard.
The reason for the blocking was the fact that the customs office stopped accepting certificates proving that a car was being repaired and for objective reasons drivers have not been able to cross the border within the five days period.
And violation of this rule is punishable by the fine of more than 8,000 UAH.
However, the customs officials explained that certificates proving inoperability of a car are still valid, but from now on they must be submitted within five days after the last border crossing.
If it is past due, then a fine will be imposed on the driver. Car owners say that this demand is unrealistic and makes the operation of a car with foreign registration nearly impossible. So, they ask to resolve this issue, otherwise they will block the border for an indefinite period.
