Another 10 Uzhgorod residents will be celebrating birthdays once in four years

February 29 is the day that occurs once in four years. During this day, ten babies were born in Uzhgorod city maternity hospital, six of them – before noon.

In the medical institution, this day is no different from the others. Mothers give birth, doctors see to their well-being. They advise new parents mostly on health and newborn care issues. "Happiness does not depend on the date in the calendar – Oksana Loshak, the deputy chief doctor for neonatal care says. – Parents believe that children born on this day are special. In non-leap years, they mostly celebrate birthdays on March 1". This year’s "extra" day of the year proved to be more fruitful than the last one. In 2012, eight babies were born in Uzhgorod on this day.

There are a lot of superstitions related to this date. Opinions on this day are diametrically opposed: some consider it the most unfortunate day of the year, while others consider it the happiest. However, superstitions should be ignored, especially by those who received the joy of parenthood on this day.
