A petition demanding to stop illegal felling of trees in the Carpathian forests has appeared on the site of the President of Ukraine

The title of the petition is "Immediately stop the barbaric felling of trees in the Carpathian forests and contraband export of logs from Ukraine!", the Zakarpatsky insider informs.

The author of the petition Svitlana Vepshyna demands to take urgent measures to preserve the Carpathian forests from illegal logging, which has recently reached unprecedented volumes. "After the introduction of the moratorium on the export of valuable varieties of wood, cases of contraband export of logs disguised as firewood have become more frequent. And before introduction of the moratorium on exports of raw pine, pine forests are being savagely destroyed in the guise of sanitary felling. Freight trains with wood are going abroad all day and night. These volumes of felling and export are possible due to cover-up by officials – the petition reads. You can sign the petition here.
