Transcarpathians spent most money on meat and bread (Infographic)

The media department of Uzhgorod Press Club has prepared an infographic "How much Transcarpathians spend on food" (auth. Yaryna Denysyuk) created under the project with the support of the Media Fund of the US Embassy in Ukraine. The level of material well-being of different social groups is studied by state statistics bodies in all districts of the region through a sample survey of household living conditions.

According to the obtained data, the average total resources of one household in the region in the fourth quarter of 2015 amounted to 8,184.75 UAH or 2,998.08 UAH on average per equivalent household member and were higher than the national average (2,701.98 UAH) at the subsistence minimum per person per month in the fourth quarter of 2015 equal to 1,330.00 UAH.

In the fourth quarter of 2015, the population of the region was spending more than half of its revenue (48.0%) on food (the national average – 53.4%).

Every month, an average Transcarpathian family would spend on food 3,904.58 UAH (including the cost of food derived from personal subsidiary economy) at 2,898.25 UAH national average.

Residents of the region were spending most of the money on meat and meat products (708.80 UAH), bread and bakery products (bread and pasta, flour, cereals) – 599.77 UAH; milk, cheese and eggs – 508.94 UAH; vegetables – 499.23 UAH; sugar, jam, honey, syrups, chocolate and confectionery products – 302.77 UAH; oils and fats (lard, butter, etc.) – 270.06 UAH.
