Transcarpathian “green berets” found cigarettes at the EU border

 During the last day, border guards of the Chop detachment together with customs officers detected three attempts of illegal transportation of cigarettes across the border.

    In the first case, a Hungarian national was trying to illegally transport cigarettes in his car "Audi" through the checkpoint "Tisa". However, given the risk, border guards decided to conduct an in-depth inspection of the car. During the inspection, they found in 2 rear doors and a spare wheel of the vehicle hidden tobacco products "LM" in amount of 200 packs. The cigarettes, the car, and the spare wheel were seized by customs officers. The total value of all assets amounted to over UAH 35 thousand.

In the second case, our compatriot attempted to illegally move cigarettes across the border. 

The man, who was heading to Hungary in a car "Opel" through the checkpoint "Tisa", concealed cigarettes in 4 running wheels of his car. However, during the inspection of the vehicle, the sniffer dog Jesse gave a signal. Then, law enforcement officers found cigarettes "Compliment" in amount of 800 packs. The cigarettes and the car worth more than 16 thousand hryvnia were seized.

Meanwhile, at the checkpoint "Chop (Strazh)", during the inspection of a freight train "Chop (Ukraine) – Cierna (Slovakia)," border guards found 500 packs of cigarettes "Jin Ling" made in Ukraine. The cigarettes were hidden in a car design features, namely in wheel pairs. The found tobacco products were seized and estimated at about UAH 6 thousand.
