The frontman of the band “Rock-H” Victor Yantso was reading for children in the Saint Miklos castle

On June 22, the sociocultural project "All Transcarpathia reads to children" came to Chynadiyevo castle "St. Miklos". The meeting proved to be truly special and there are several reasons for that: for the first time, the project took place outside Uzhgorod, visited one of the most attractive castles of Transcarpathia (instead of classrooms and libraries), and the readings were attended by a record number of listeners – more than 90 children from the regional camp for gifted children "Harmonia".

The special guest of the project was the frontman of the known Transcarpathian rock band "Rock-H" Victor Yantso.   In addition to being a professional musician, Victor Yantso also has a direct relationship with literature, which he studied at the Faculty of Philology of UzhNU, so he knows firsthand what philosophical depths books can open and how powerful their impact on a person, especially one that is being formed, is. So, the guest advised the children to take any opportunity to read.

Given the age of the listeners, this time they presented the book "Not like everyone else" by Serhiy Gridin – one of the leading contemporary Ukrainian authors of books for teenagers. The blurb states: "This story is striking in its honesty. About school, family, society, abandoned children, and life as it is – without embellishment, full of harsh realities and tribulations." The book won rave reviews from critics, was included in the rating "Book of The Year – 2013" in the category "Youth and Adolescent Literature" and the long list of the award "BBC Children’s Book of the Year – 2013".

Victor Yantso read an excerpt from the book, and then suggested the listeners to read the book themselves to get to know the end of the story.

Traditionally, the project coordinator, a representative of the Center for the study of literature for children and youth, writer Halyna Malyk and the Deputy Head of the Department of Culture of the RSA Ildiko Molnar presented the children the collection of modern Ukrainian books for children and youth.

In turn, Viktor Yantso added to the presents CDs of the band "Rock-H" and performed well-known songs playing on a museum piano.
