Better to see once… Representatives of the European Commission visited Solotvyno salt mine
The Expert Mission of the European Union to assess threats and risks of the situation in the territory of the State Enterprise "Solotvyno salt mine" has visited the village of Solotvyno in Tyachiv district.

 

The EU experts together with Hungarian and Romanian experts and representatives of the Ministry of Nature, the Ministry of Environment, the State Emergencies Service, the Foreign Ministry of our country and scientific institutions of Ukraine examined the cavern in the territory of the salt mine and adjacent streets and houses in the village.
"Our team arrived at the invitation of the governments of Ukraine and Hungary to study and assess the actual environmental situation in the territory of the State Enterprise "Solotvyno salt mine" and the village of Solotvyno and to define further joint actions to solve the problem. The purpose of our current visit is to make a detailed analysis of the situation.

We are working closely with representatives of central and regional authorities, which themselves have to decide on the solution of the problem. Hungarian and Ukrainian experts and scientists are also working with us," – the head of the European Commission expert group Terry Webb said. – Following the analysis of the situation in Transcarpathia, we will prepare a report and recommendations for the next visit of narrow specialists and the government of Ukraine."

 

 In Solotvyno, members of the EU expert mission also held a round table meeting with the heads of the village and Tyachiv district.

 Representatives of the EU expert mission will stay in Transcarpathian region until the end of the week. During this time, there will be a number of meetings of the EU experts with experts from Ukraine.
