More than 1,300 facts of electricity thefts were revealed by workers of the “Zakarpattyaoblenergo” PJSC during the first half of the year

The "Zakarpattyaoblenergo" PJSC informs that in the period from January 1 to July 1 this year, employees of the Company revealed 1359 facts of electricity theft.

In particular, they made 1023 reports of violations by households and 336 reports of violations by legal entities (private entrepreneurs, companies, firms, etc.).

Most cases of illegal interference in the power grid among households over the past six months were found in Tyachiv and Mizhhirya districts of Transcarpathian region (170 and 121 violations respectively). Most often, electricity was illegally consumed through damaging and removal of seals on metering devices (315 cases). Another frequent violation for this period was damaging of metering devices (180 cases).

In the legal sector (private entrepreneurs, companies, firms, etc.), facts of thefts were found in all districts. Most violations were observed in the city of Uzhgorod and the city of Mukachevo (45 and 44 cases). Thus, the most popular violations were damaging of metering devices (damage to the meter hull, broken glass, etc.) as well as damaging and removal of seals.

Thus, during the first half of 2016, Committees to review reports of violation imposed fines totaling UAH 6.3 million. Of this amount, more than half, or UAH 3.3 million was imposed on household consumers, fines totaling UAH 3 million were imposed in the legal sector.

Given this situation, the "Zakarpattyaoblenergo" PJSC once again appeals to consumers requesting to pay for electricity on time and in full, because it is a key to energy security of Ukraine.
