The Office of Youth and Sports of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration published the rating of achievements in Olympic and non-Olympic sports for three years – from 2012 to 2015.
Thus, according to the regional Office of Youth and Sports, fencers brought the region the most points – 17,891.5. During this time, according to the data, 11 of our fencers became masters of sports of Ukraine. It is encouraging that our countryman Anatoliy Herey will be representing the Silver Land in fencing at the XXXI Summer Olympic Games in Brazil.
Handball takes the second place (8,852 points), GR – the third place (6876.5 points). By the way, the favorite and most popular sport in Transcarpathia – football – is only on the 16th place with 1156 points in the rating list. The "game of millions" is behind Alpine skiing, snowboarding, freestyle skiing, cycling, track and field athletics, weightlifting, skiing, beach volleyball, tennis, boxing, rugby and judo.
The undisputed leader among non-Olympic sports is orienteering (15,445 points), powerlifting takes second place in the ranking (9,504 points), motorcycle sport takes the third place (5,179 points).
