In late November, Mukachevo police began to receive from local residents a number of reports of burglaries. After analyzing the information about the burglaries, the investigators found out that they had been committed by the same persons. The unknown men would penetrate into houses by picking locks. The crimes were usually committed in residential areas of the city, in the morning. They would only steal money, jewelry and appliances.
In the course of operational and preventive measures, Mukachevo criminal police officers together with officers of the regional criminal police detained in Uzhgorod two local residents aged 32 and 34 years, who are suspected in a series of burglaries in the city of Mukachevo. They had a bag, in which the police offcers found a picklock key and stolen goods.
During the preliminary investigation, the police found out that the men had another accomplice – a 34-year-old resident of the regional center.
All three men were arrested and put in the temporary detention facility of Uzhgorod Police Department.
The police suspect the men of committing four burglaries in Mukachevo, also their involvement in other thefts committed in the region is being checked.
Criminal proceedings over these crimes have been opened under Part 3 of Art. 185 (theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pretrial investigation continues.
