In Transcarpathia, two brothers were sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment for illegal migrant trafficking

The verdict of Vynogradiv district court against two brothers, who, being members of an organized group, transported illegal migrants across the state border of Ukraine in 2013, has entered into force.

The organized group consisted of 4 citizens of Ukraine, including the two brothers, residents of a district in Transcarpathian region bordering to Hungary.

In May of the same year, the activities of the group were stopped by officers of the Security Service of Ukraine. The crimimals were notified of being suspect under part 3 of Art.332 (illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine committed by an organized group) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. To avoid criminal charges, the organizer and his accomplices for a long time were hiding from the investigation abroad and were declared internationally wanted.

This year, the two brothers were extradited to Ukraine. The court found them guilty of the alleged offense and sentenced both to 5 years and 1 month imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The organizer of the illegal migration channel was sentenced to 3 years in prison.

Another accomplice of the members of this group is in the international wanted list.
