The investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region completed a preliminary investigation and sent to the court the case of a local resident accused of encroachment on territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine and inciting ethnic hatred.
The native of the region regularly participates in public mass events. Speaking at one of such rallies in March 2016, this citizen publicly proclaimed anti-Ukrainian calls, in particular, about the allegedly illegal accession of Transcarpathia to Ukraine, accused the Ukrainians and the state authorities of supposedly hostile attitude to indigenous people of the region and campaigned for separation of Transcarpathia from Ukraine.
This local resident was notified by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region of being suspected under Part 2 of Art.110 (violation of territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine combined with inciting ethnic hatred) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court has already arrested the property of this citizen. The offender faces 5 to 10 years in prison for this crime. Procedural control in the criminal proceeding is conducted by the prosecutor’s office.
