Transcarpathian firefighters eliminated 10 fires of dry grass in one day

With the onset of warm weather, the number of fires in ecosystems of Transcarpathia has dramatically increased. Despite the warnings, citizens keep burning dry grass and debris. During just one day, April 3, 10 such cases were recorded in the region.

On Sunday, dry grass and shrubs were burning in six districts of Transcarpathia. Most fires occurred in the city of Uzhgorod and Uzhgorod district – 4 cases. Two fires were recorded in Irshava district, and one – in each of Rakhiv, Perechyn, Mukachevo and Vynogradiv districts. Overall, as a result, the fires destroyed more than 11 hectares of vegetation.

While there is no significant heat, the main factor of fires in ecosystems is human negligence. Transcarpathians either burn dry grass on their own land, or fail to follow fire safety rules during outdoor recreation, in particular fail to put out fires before going back home. Rescuers once again urge citizens to be responsible and not to harm the environment. When working in the garden, do not incinerate dead wood – better put it in a special pit for compost. When going out on picnic, make fire only in designated areas, do not leave it unattended and put it out with water before leaving. These recommendations do not require much effort, but help to protect nature from ravages of fire.
