Uzhgorod will have another mini-monument – to the Emperor Franz Joseph (PHOTOS)

Currently, the author of all Uzhgorod mini-sculptures Mykhailo Kolodko has made a clay model.

Sometimes, one can hear from Transcarpathian old-timers, "It was back in the times of Franz Joseph." It’s a saying that means that something happened a long time ago. It refers to the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph, who is still a part of Transcarpathian history, culture and soul.

Franz Joseph was ruling the Austro-Hungarian Empire for as many as 68 years – the period, during which, instead of executions and massacres, civil rights were proclaimed, traditions and culture were developing. They say that people loved the ruler so much, that his portrait was virtually in every village hut, not to mention official institutions. It is to him that Hungarians, Czechs and Austrians still owe their organized way of life – being a "lark" by nature, Franz Joseph taught the entire empire to get up early – the Varosh writes.

According to the author, the sculpture will depict not only Franz Joseph, but also his dog.

According to Mykhailo Kolodko, his aim is to promote the image, to make it interesting so that people take pictures of it. A dog has this effect on people, it attracts the eye.
