Uzhgorod students took part in the Winter Computer School

Specialists in algorithmic programming of Uzhgorod National University took part in the First All-Ukrainian winter computer school "Olympus" in Poltava region - the Media Center of UzhNU informed.

The acting head of the department of information management systems and technologies of UzhNU Oleksandr Mitsa and students of information technology faculty Serhiy Oryshych and Roman Rubanenko gave lectures and conducted practical sessions for students from all over Ukraine. Among the students of the school, there were winners of the IV stage of the All-Ukrainian Olympiad in Informatics and winners of international competitions on this discipline. The Faculty of Information Technology plans to conduct nationwide computer schools in Transcarpathia too.

According to Oleksandr Mitsa, it would be a good incentive for students to deepen their knowledge in the field of computer science. Overall, 2014 was the breakthrough for the Faculty of Information Technology of UzhNU. The team of students of our university for the first time made it in the top 100 teams in the world, ahead of representatives from New York University, Osaka and Kyiv Polytechnic University. The Uzhgorod University team for the first time won bronze medals at the International Olympiad in Programming, which was attended by 74 teams from South-Eastern Europe. For the first time, the XIII All-Ukrainian tournament of young computer scientists was brilliantly organized in Transcarpathia. In 2014, the Faculty of Information Technology also received a license to train bachelors in a new specialty - computer science.
