Transcarpathian authorities continue to cooperate with Hungary under the Eastern Partnership project (PHOTOS)
On Monday, January 12, at the Transcarpathian RSA, the head of the RSA Vasyl Hubal and the Regional Council chairman Volodymyr Chubirko met with the Consul General of the Republic of Hungary in Uzhhorod Jozsef Bachkayi and the people's deputy of Ukraine Vasyl Brenzovych to discuss cooperation with Hungary in the format of the Eastern Partnership.
As the Regional Council chairman Volodymyr Chubirko stressed, the Eastern Partnership program has been working in the region for many years, its goal is to implement socially important projects in the region, and it has already demonstrated tangible results. Different settlements of Transcarpathia have received assistance, including the village of Verbyazh in Volovets district, villages in Mukachevo district, and others. The neighboring country is involved in financing energy efficiency projects in public institutions, etc. - Volodymyr Chubirko said.
During the meeting, they discussed not only the results of previous projects, but also the prospects of cooperation between Transcarpathia and Hungary. According to the MP of Ukraine Vasyl Brenzovych, representing the Hungarian community of Transcarpathia in the Parliament, who was actively involved in cross-border cooperation programs as a member of the Regional Council, the specific amounts of financial support from Hungary to Transcarpathia for 2015 will be announced in the coming weeks. The MP, however, stressed that it is not only financial support, but also the cross-border cooperation aimed at the development of good neighborly relations and European integration of Ukraine. "The integration of Ukraine into Europe should be not only in words but also in reality. Therefore, plans for infrastructure development, construction of border crossing points are very relevant - we should do it and build roads connecting Ukraine and Hungary across the border" - Vasyl Brenzovych said.
The head of the Regional State Administration Vasyl Hubal stressed: the issue of cooperation with the neighboring country is important to Transcarpathia, the region feels its support in specific deeds. And at the meeting at the Presidential Administration, which is scheduled for this week, they will talk about future plans, including state guarantees on Ukraine's participation in the development of cross-border infrastructure at the border with Hungary.
The Consul General of the Republic of Hungary in Uzhgorod Jozsef Bachkayi said that Hungary has good intentions for Ukraine and Transcarpathia, and is ready to support our country in the European integration. In particular, it is evidenced by the intention to continue cooperating in the framework of the Eastern Partnership program, which, in fact, the parties agreed about by signing an appropriate agreement.
