The volume of cash in circulation last year increased by 20%

The amount of cash in Ukraine in circulation outside the banking system in January-December 2014 increased by UAH 44.989 billion, or 18.9% - up to UAH 282.765 billion.

This was reported by the press service of the National Bank, the UNIAN informs.

According to the NBU, in December, the amount of cash rose by 0.1%. Money supply in 2014 increased by UAH 44.851 billion, or by 4.9% - to UAH 953.846 billion, while in December - it fell by 1.8%.

The monetary base last year rose by 8.5% or UAH 26.055 billion - to UAH 333.194 billion, in December the growth was 1.5%.

As reported, the money supply in Ukraine in January-November 2014 increased by 6.9% - to UAH 971.8 billion, the monetary base - also by 6.9% to UAH 328.4 billion. The cash outside banks during this period increased by 18.8% - up to UAH 282.4 billion.

In 2013, the monetary base increased by UAH 51.918 billion, or 20.3% - to UAH 307.201 billion, the money supply - by 17.2% or UAH 133.149 billion to UAH 906.3 billion, cash outside banks - 16.8% or UAH 34.243 billion to UAH 237.488 billion.

The head of the NBU Valeria Gontareva during her speech in the Parliament on January 16 said that monetary policy of the regulator for 2015 would be very reasonable, including the growth of the monetary base is planned at 27%, or 91 billion hryvnia, and the National Bank is ready to support the Government, the Deposit Insurance Fund and the banking system only within these limits.
