The regional government demand from Uzhgorod authorities immediate recovery of the city water utility

Today, January 20, on the initiative of the head of the Transcarpathian Regional Administration Vasyl Hubal together with the Chairman of the Regional Council Volodymyr Chubirko, there was a meeting with Uzhgorod Mayor Victor Pogorelov and Artem Martyniuk, the First Deputy General Director of the "Zakarpattyaoblenergo" PJSC. The reason for the meeting was the situation about Uzhgorod Vodokanal, or rather, its crisis.

As you know, earlier this year, they changed the director there, and at the end of the last year, the regional authorities, financing costs of electricity, helped avoid disconnection of water utility structures from electricity supply and thereby outages of water supply in Uzhgorod. Today, they discussed systemic ways out of the crisis.

The head of the Regional State Administration told Victor Pogorelov that it is important not to let the water utility fall into more debt. Vasyl Hubal urged the city government to find understanding and ways of effective cooperation with the Zakarpattyaoblenergo (by the way, Vodokanal of Uzhgorod is the largest consumer of electricity in the region) and to improve the financial situation of the water utility - to search methods and reserves for that. It involves technical upgrading, optimization, changes in accounting of services, and termination of corruption.

Together with the Chairman of the Regional Council Volodymyr Chubirko, the head of the RSA proposed concrete steps - how to boost performance and improve the economy of the enterprise. It includes energy-saving technologies, as well as elimination of dubious schemes that are still used there.
