A Nativity crib was set on Teatralna Square to stay there until the end of New Year and Christmas holidays, that is, until Epiphany.
Nativity cribs are usually cutouts depicting a Bethlehem stable on the night of Christmas. It may be made in miniature or in large scale. The mandatory elements are the image of Jesus Christ, Our Lady and St. Joseph; depending on variations, there may also be shepherds, cattle, three kings, or other characters.
Sometimes living Nativity crib are set with real people and animals instead of images. Nativity cribs are one of the most popular Christmas traditions in Europe and North America.
