For many people in Europe, Christmas holidays end on January 6 - the Day of the Three Kings. On this day, Catholics remember the kings: Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar.
Three Kings have many similarities with Epiphany. These days complete Christmas in churches of Western and Eastern rites. After the year 336, since it was decided to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ on December 25, the receiving of the news of his divine birth has been celebrated on January 6. On this day - according to the gospel - three kings or wise men came to Bethlehem to pray to the newborn, they were the first to get to know about the birth of Christ.
To this day, the tradition has preserved: children dressed as the three wise men, go from house to house singing carols and write with chalk on the doors the formula C + M + B, which should mean the names of Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar, and in Latin it means "Christus mansionem benedicat" - "Christ, protect this house." By the way, every believer family had chalk - for protection from evil spirits and diseases.
And on January, in Uzhgorod, according to a similar tradition, the building of the best confectionery of Transcarpathia "Shtefanyo" was consecrated, where the best confectioner of Ukraine, Valentin Shtefanyo presented a famous French confection for the Day of the Three Kings - nutty biscuit with baked surprises.
In addition, right before Christmas, they consecrated tourist attraction of the city - mini-sculptures of Uzhgorod.
