NBU wants to close currency exchange points

The National Bank initiates closure of currency exchange points.

This was stated during a press conference by the first deputy head of the NBU Oleksandr Pisaruk, the "Ukrainski Novyny" informed.

According to him, the existence of an extensive network of currency exchange points is a problem because inspections have found numerous violations of legal acts of the NBU for foreign exchange transactions.

Pisaruk added that the level of control over such points by the banks is also insufficient.

In this regard, the regulator initiates that the right to conduct foreign exchange transactions shall granted only to banks, which will allow to bring such transactions in order, to strengthen control over them and to reduce speculation in the foreign exchange market.

As reported in December 2014. the NBU compiled a list of signs of false agreements to purchase foreign currency in the interbank market.
