Doctors raise the alarm

"Today in Transcarpathian region, we have an extremely critical situation regarding the provision of the region with immunobiological preparations purchased by the state for mandatory preventive vaccination of Transcarpathians" - the deputy head of the Health Care Department of the RSA Tetyana Mitsyo told Novyny Zakarpattya.

And each time it gets worse and worse. In particular, in 2010-2011, the provision was at 80-90% of the demand, in 2012 - at two-thirds, in 2013 - amounted to half, and in the last year, it was only 12.7%.

Now, the situation is not any better - as of the beginning of 2015, the region has received 70,989 doses of immunobiological products, representing only 12.7% of the total need of the region.

- Due to the insufficient and interrupted supply of vaccines to the region from the SE "Ukrvaktsina" - Tetyana Mitsyo says - health facilities are unable to carry out the planned immunization of children under one year against tuberculosis, diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus.. Moreover, today, there is no BCG vaccine in any district of the region. Because of that, since October last year, babies are discharged maternity units not being vaccinated against tuberculosis", - the medical official says.
