Biometric passports are issued in Transcarpathia too
On January 12, the State Migration Service of Ukraine started accepting documents for issuance of biometric passports for traveling abroad.
There were people willing to receive biometric passport at the Main Office of the State Migration Service in Transcarpathian region in Uzhgorod too. But according to Olga Poshtak, the chief public relations specialist of the Main Office of the SMS of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region, "the "working station" for issuing passports with contactless electronic chip on that day was working in test mode. She says that they will have a more detailed information tomorrow. Instead, in districts, so far they accept documents only for issuing ordinary passports for travel abroad. But it is expected that in February similar equipment will be delivered to ten territorial divisions of the regional Migration Service to meet the demand for the documents.
Recall that the "working station" for issuing passports with contactless electronic chip was installed there in early December last year. It includes a scanner for fingerprints, a digital signature scanner where the person has to sign. Also person is photographed to obtain a digitized image of the face. This information will be recorded on a chip.
