A scammer cheated a woman out of 13,000 UAH
The offender posed as a bank security officer and asked to tell him the number of a bank card, which a trusting woman did not suspecting a foul play...
A 35-year-old resident of the village of Bushtyno in Tyachiv district became the first victim of a phone scam in Transcarpathia this year.
At noon, an unknown man called on her mobile phone and introduced himself as a security officer of the commercial bank from Kyiv, which provides services to the woman.
The "banker" asked to tell him the card number under the pretext of frequent thefts of money from the cards of their customers, so the number of her credit card could be changed. The trusting resident of Tyachiv district did that, not suspecting a foul play. And soon all the money in the amount of 13,000 UAH disappeared from her account...
The police are searching for the scammer and once again advise citizens to be careful. Don't tell anyone the PIN code and the number of your card, and even better - do not talk by phone about your bank card number with strangers. Remember that modern technology enable fraudsters to withdraw money even without having a card itself.
Be careful not to become a victim of crooks!
