Volodymyr Chubirko: "Transcarpathia will use the European experience of grant attraction"
Transcarpathia plans to implement a new large-scale project to attract foreign investment. It will be the establishment of the European Territorial Cooperation together with Hungarians.
The head of the Transcarpathian Regional Council Volodymyr Chubirko agreed on that with the chairman of the general meeting of Szabolcs-Satmar-Bereg region Oscar Shestak.
The delegation of Transcarpathian region, which visited the Pardubice region last week, had a chance to see how such cooperation works in regions of the Czech Republic. Here, by attracting the funds of the European Territorial Cooperation, they managed to reconstruct a number of important social facilities that create a positive cultural and tourist image of the region. Thus, Pardubice castle and university after the reconstruction became cultural and scientific centers of the region and historical and architectural landmarks of the city.
"The new cooperation, which is being established by Transcarpathia and Hungarian partners, will be as effective as those in other regions of Europe, including the Czech Republic. Next week, the partners in Nyíregyháza plan to adopt at a meeting of the general meeting of Szabolcs-Satmar-Bereg region the decision on the establishment of such cooperation. The next step will be made by us. We will be able to participate in grant programs, which the European Commission will be announcing competitions for. It will concern raising funds for development of infrastructure, tourism, environmental protection, preservation of cultural heritage and so on. And what is important, the European cooperation center will be the first of its kind in Ukraine. Other regions of the country may eventually take over our experience. As a region that borders with four EU countries, we must make the project successful", - Volodymyr Chubirko said.
