Village head failed to "rip off" an entrepreneur

The head of one of the villages in Rakhiv district demanded 15,000 dollars from an entrepreneur for issuing documents for land use. When receiving a bribe of 230,000 UAH, the mammonish civil servant was arrested last night by officers of the regional department to combat crime in the economic sphere, the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs Office informs. 

 An entrepreneur from Rakhiv district filed a statement to the police. The applicant reported that the head of one of the villages was demanding from him unlawful benefit in the amount of 15,000 dollars. The village head demanded the money for the issuance of a certificate of use of land in area of 1.2 ha belonging to the said entrepreneur. On September 11, in the evening, officers of the department to combat crime in the economic sphere of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs Office detained the village head on the terrace of a cafe in the city of Rakhiv when he was receiving unlawful benefit amounting to 230,000 UAH. 

This event was registered in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations. Transcarpathian police investigation department, under the procedural direction of regional prosecutors, opened a criminal proceedings over this fact under Part 3 of Art.368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (bribery on a large scale). 

Interestingly, immediately after the arrest, the mammonish official suddenly became ill, and currently he is in the intensive care unit of Rakhiv hospital. There he is guarded by the police. 

The investigation in this resonant case continues. The sanction of the articl provides for imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years with confiscation of property.
