Pogorelov swears that repairs are being done not because of the elections but… because of the reforms and wants Uzhgorod residents to “feel no fear”

Today, Tuesday, September 8,Uzhgorod Mayor Victor Pogorelov summoned journalists to a briefing, which can well be his last in the office. Because the elections are closed.

He told about what had been done in the municipal economy, and what had not. By the way, he puts blame for some of the failures on his "illegal removal from the office" in 2014. Like otherwise he would have done more.

He told about the preparations for the winter – it is "going according to plan", because the city has no central heating.

As for repairs in blocks that have noticably become more frequent, he tried to reassure the audience that they have nothing to do with the elections.

"We are doing repairs not because of the elections, but because the city has the money for it due to reforms," – Pogorelov said.

By the way, the draft decision on the allocation of funds to repair 11 more streets will be submitted at the next session of the City Council

Also, the mayor reported that 800,000 UAH had been allocated from the city budget for protection of the Uzh from floods. "We remember 1994, 1998, I want to make sure that residents of the areas adjacent to the river feel no fear," – Pogorelov said.

However, he did not say whether he or anyone from his family would run for mayor in the upcoming elections. Pogorelov said that he would not talk about policy.
