Transcarpathia will cooperate with the Kaunas region of ​​Lithuania

At the invitation of the Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Council Volodymyr Chubirko, the delegation from the Kaunas region of ​​Lithuania arrived to Transcarpathia. The delegation consists of the Mayor of Kaunas District Valeriyus Makunas, the chairman of the local group of activity Jolanta-Maria Malinauskayte, the head of the district government economy department Arturas Pupale, the Director of the "Ecowood" CJSC Giedrius Lyalyuha, the Director of Kaunas Chamber of Industry and Trade Vitausas Schileykis, representatives of the Mykolas Romeris University.

In the Regional Council, they signed the cooperation agreement between Transcarpathian Regional Council of Ukraine and Kaunas district government of Lithuania.

"The president of your country is one of the most active lobbyists of Ukraine.  Lithuania supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country.  Lithuania will be the first Baltic state, with which we will sign today the agreement on cooperation.

We are ready to develop friendly and business relations to initiate cooperation and are pleased that it will be with Kaunas district", - Volodymyr Chubirko said.

Valeriyus Makunas stated: Lithuanians welcome new contacts in Ukraine. "We have passed the European integration way, which you have chosen. It is not easy and we are ready to help you. First of all, we are ready to share experiences. Education, medicine, infrastructure development - these are the areas where we can cooperate." 

Under the agreement, the parties agreed  to establish long-term friendly and mutually beneficial relations between Transcarpathian region and Kaunas district as partner regions.  The purpose of the agreement is the development of good neighborly Ukrainian-Lithuanian relations, mutually beneficial inter-regional socio-economic and environmental cooperation, local government, social security, and cooperation in culture, education and science, tourism and sports, information, on the basis of a national policy of good neighborliness and cooperation between two countries. 


After signing the agreement. Kaunas district delegation participated in the signing of an agreement between the UzhNU and Lithuanian Mokolasa Romeris University.
